Cassette cleaning & install...


Soaked the cassette in Simple Green for a couple of days.
Then cleaned all the gears with a tooth brush.

Rinsed all the parts with water then set them out to dry.

Hub ready to accept the cassette.

Lubricated the hub and installed the first spacer (silver).

Gears 10, 9 & 8.
28, 24 & 21 teeth.
These gears are one assembly, riveted together.

The "ribs" on the hub are designed such that the gears only go on in one position and in only one orientation (can't install any of the gears "inside-out").

Spacer between gears (black).

Gear 4

Gear 3

Gear 2 (12 teeth)

Gear 1 (11 teeth)
Lubed the threads for the lock-ring.

Lock-ring hand threaded on.

Lock-ring tool.

Tightened the lock ring.

Cleaned and installed the skewer.
Ready to install on the bike.
