Stopped at the Oceans Café near the hang glider spot.

View north.

Ate once here a very long time ago.

There were several lifeguard vehicles near the café.

Don't know what was going on.

There's a few places where they've build a sand berm.

Assuming it's to keep the waves out when there's a storm.

Also would reduce the on-shore wind.

Thursday, November 17, 2022 -- LA Auto Show Press Day - Part 10

Walked to a nearby restaurant for lunch (Fixins Soul Kitchen).

Fried green tomatoes.

Pretty good...

 

Thanksgiving Holiday, 2022 -- Fairbanks Alaska -- Part 8 - Monday, 11/21 - Chena Hot Spring

Chena Hot Spring was a little over an hour drive.

The road dead-ends at the hot spring.

The road conditions were a little snowy/icy in spots but were OK overall.

The entrance to the main building for hotel check-in and restaurant.

Had a late lunch in the restaurant (our young server was from Northridge).

There's an airport, snow mobile-ing, snow shoeing, and other activities to give additional activity options for the trip out there.

There were a sizable number of Chinese visitors, not just at the hot springs but all over in the Fairbanks area.

The outdoors hot spring experience was pretty unique.

The air temperature was in the teens (F).

The water temperature was regulated to about 102 F.

When European cars adapted the sealed-beam lamps into the original lamps...

 

1920s (?) super-advanced car

Don't know what this is.

Have never seen it before.

Looks like it was a French "auto salon" in the early 1920s.

Midengined.

Extremely low (with very low ground clearance for the day).

Very narrow (small frontal area).

Very cab forward.

Smaller solid wheels.

No fenders.

Wow...
