Paper Pictures -- Part 1 -- Corcovado

I tend to save paper (receipts, brochures, maps, etc.).
Will take pictures then throw them away (recycle).

Postcard.  Should just use it...

Tram ticket to get to the top.
The geography and the view from the statue is unexpectedly amazing.
The geography of the area around Rio is spectacular.

Thursday, January 27, 2022 -- Manhattan Beach Pier

Catalina with some low clouds/fog at the water line...

Relatively clear day...

There's a couple of people sitting at the base of the nearest palm tree.
It's a nice spot for a rest...

Not too many people around the pier.
Although the flags are kinda still, there was a strong cross-wind on the way back to Marina Del Rey.

70s 912 glove box door...

This was hanging in the rafters but was interfering with one of the steering wheel.
Will need to find a place to store/display it...

Put it on the flat file for now...

Another spot for another steering wheel hanger...

Will need to move some stuff before I can install an steering wheel hanger...

Wednesday, January 26, 2022 -- Manhattan Beach Pier

Nice day and the forecast is for it to continue to be nice...

Smart Light Bulb...

Received a smart light bulb and Amazon Echo Dot to control it for Christmas.
Placed the Echo Dot on top of the Wi-Fi router.

Installed the smart bulb in the lamp sitting on the dining room side board.  This lamp has a rotary switch in the wiring, which is behind the side board so it's not convenient to use.
So, we pretty much never use this lamp.

Now I can control the lamp remotely with my phone and also control the dimming level with the phone, so it's now easy to use.

Monday, January 24, 2022 -- Cold in the house...

At 11 AM, it's 58 F in the house.
Top is the programmable thermostat.
Bottom is the CO alarm (has a built in thermometer).

Rearranged wheels on one of the hangers...

Rearranged the wheels on the center hanger to make space to add a couple more...

Early 911 wheel...

Aftermarket wheel...

Either 911 or 914 wheel...

Nardi wheel...

Fiat OEM wheel...

Momo race car wheel...

Tuesday, January 25, 2022 -- Manhattan Beach Pier -- Cooler (low to mid 60s) but sunny

Benches have been empty the last couple of days...

Windy.  Blowing in...

Old MGB Starter Button...

Took it apart.
Just bending back the tabs makes the pieces "spring" apart...

Back cover piece with the contacts.

Corrosion on one of the contacts is pretty severe.
The staining is from when there was water spreading between the pieces...

Several pieces to the design...

This is with all the pieces separated.
Clever design.  No fasteners involved...

The U-shaped metal part moves the contact plate up and down and is spring loaded by the push button.

When depressed...

Even on the outside portion of the wiring connector bracket, there's evidence of corrosion.

The pieces on the right (when flipped over) normally sit on top of the piece on the left.
The relative position of the pieces represent when the button is not being pushed.

When the button is pushed, the piece on the right is moved down and makes a connection to both contacts on the back plate.

I put the pieces in this drawer for now.
May save the springs and push button to put in one of the storage bins for "miscellaneous hardware"...

Broken Porsche Mug Handle

The handle broke in tow pieces.
Bought some super glue.
Put one of the pieces back on...

Will let it sit over night before using.
Hope it can stay together so that it will at least be functional...
