Part 1: From the Long Beach Swap Meet (11/8/2015)

This is a /43rd scale model by AutoArt.  Mazda RX8 (the last Rotary powered car sold).  I drove one home one day, many years ago.  I recall how little torque the engine had & how poor the fuel economy was.  If you want to pass someone on the freeway, a downshift is mandatory (it was a manual trans car...).  On the other hand, the engine's willingness to rev was good and very smooth.  As the RPMs increased to the upper end, there was not a significant change in the sound/feel.  Very different from a piston engine...  Overall, the car didn't feel as special as I had hoped.  Lastly, the visibility was not very good, thick pillars and the 1/2 doors didn't help with the view out.

For checking the hardness of race car tires (age and heat cycling can harden the tire rubber... even though the tire may visually look the same as a new one...)

Simi Valley, CA 93065...  This company appears to still be in business.  Don't know the story behind the confederate symbolism.

Douglas aircraft "merged" with McDonald in 1967, so this "badge" is pre-1967.  Just before the merger, Douglas Aircraft was working on the DC10 & things were not going great for Douglas at the time...  This will go in the tool box I have with the official Douglas Aircraft Decals/Labels on it...

The books (there's 4) and the Stewart speedometer are newly purchased from the swap meet...

Bought 3 Audi modern steering wheels...  The metal skeleton of these wheels are Magnesium the the rims are trimmed in real wood & leather...  Why buy 3?  The seller had 3 and sold the wheels as a group.  What to do with them?  Don't know yet...   The Leather and Wood are very nicely done.

A company that put's its name on the head of bolts is either obsessive or full of hubris or ?  But, it's cool...

Klementaski: Master Motorsports Photographer

I bought some car junk from a guy who owns a shop (Porsche & BMW focus) in Santa Barbara last year.  He happened to have several Klementaski prints on display at his shop.  He said that Klementaski lives in Santa Barbara and brings his car in for repair/maintenance.
