Proto (used to be Plomb, based in Los Angeles) & Truth (Mankato, Minnesota)

Both were brown with surface rust before sand blasting, wire brushing then putting a protective coating on...  Took about 10 minutes...  Then give it a couple of hours for the rubbed on coating to dry...

MIELE Bike Lugs -- Almost everything to make a bike but the tubes...

The rear drop outs are stamped COLUMBUS (known for manufacturing high quality bicycle steel tubing...)

Best guess in that these were made in the 80s.  Miele was a Canadian based company making bikes in Canada.
Miele is also the name of a German company that made bikes from the 20s to the 60s.  Don't know if the two companies are connected...

The valve stem hole has this nice "plate"

Shimano 600.  From what little I know, it seems the 600 was near the top of the line for Shimano in the 70's...

914 Steering Wheel - Old...

The leather cover is in pretty bad shape... & needs to be removed but the wheel itself (& the rim under the leather) appears to be in OK shape...

Although the steering wheel looks almost identical to the 911 steering wheels of the late '60s & early '70s, the part number stamped in the center says 914... (different than for 901...)

Manhattan Beach Pier -- December 12, 2015 (Saturday) -- Big Waves

It's been somewhat stormy lately (strong winds & cold in the mornings), even though we've gotten very little rain from it.  The waves were BIG and no one was in the water...

The winds were very strong and in my face going back home.  The bike path was not ride-able in sections due to sand being blown on it...  It was a struggle...

1920 to 1965 American Car Spotters Guides by Tad Burness

I don't know these cars much at all & would have trouble identifying them if I passed one of the freeway...  Didn't take pictures of the insides but they are laid out like a kid's scrap book with many "cut out" pictures on each page with captions...

1975 - 1982 Fiat Spider Factory Shop Manual - Did not remember that they had a Turbo version...

The manual appears to have been well used.  Needs to be cleaned...

The 1975 version had 80 HP.  The last Turbo had 120.  That's a big (50%) increase!

1949 American Magazine Car Ads (most in color) -- Scrapbook

Someone in 1948 (67 years ago...) cut and pasted all these large car ads from magazines into a large scrapbook.  It must have taken quite a bit of time and effort.  These ads are large format (each sheet is larger than a letter size) and some are foldouts about 11X17 in size.  I wonder who it was...  It was just 3 years after the end of WWII and the optimism and the view to the bright future is nearly palpable in these ads...  For some, it was the beginning of an exciting period for the auto industry that lasted till the end of the 60's... (20 or so good years...)

Alfa Romeo Giulia Cylinder Head... Looking for the valve cover...

Bought this at the French & Italian car show at Woodley Park a couple of months ago.  This is after cleaning it up.  Now I need to buy a valve cover.  The valve cover is very beautiful & some people polish it (I don't like it polished...).  As with most of the junk I buy, don't know what I'll do with it.  Probably hang it on the wall in the garage once I find a valve cover...
