Sunday, November 13, 2022 -- Long Beach Car Swap Meet -- Part 2 -- Early Pantera Steering Wheel

The wheel needs a good cleaning and the leather needs slight repair, cleaning, color & conditioning...

Interesting construction of the wheel and hub.
Have not seen this type of construction before.

the plastic rear cover is pretty poorly designed an fastened in place with three screws to the spokes of the steering wheel.

This picture is from an early 70s Pantera.
The factory steering wheel.
A bit strange looking design.
Not particularly attractive.

The center pad appears to be a large hard foam pad, for safety.
The rim is leather wrapped.

The quality of the entire car is pretty poor.
The interior looks cheap and the material quality & fit/finish is poor.

Nice looking car, though.
Mid-engined.
Ford V8, ZF 5 speed.

Found this picture online of a steering wheel with the foam pad missing/disintegrating...

What the pad looks like (replacement part available online).

Saturday, November 12, 2022 - Marina Del Rey - Jetty Between Ballona Creek & the Marina

There's a gate that keeps cars & bikes off of this jetty, at the cross-over bridge (pedestrian & bike).

Today, the gate was open.
So, I rode the bike out to the end of the jetty as far as I can go.

This picture is from the end of the jetty where the smooth path ends.
It looks like the jetty goes out another 50 yards or so to a dead end.

This picture is a bit deceptive.
The jetty ends and there's a large pap to the perpendicular break water, where the boats travel in and out for the marina from the left.

This view is from the same as the above except looking inland.
The bridge in the distance on the right of the jetty is the bike bridge to cross over Ballona Creek.

I would guess that the jetty is about 1/4 mile long.

Looking south from the jetty across the out let of Ballona Creek.
The hills to the right in the distance is Palos Verdes.

They recently did work on the jetty.
They put these concrete sections with railing in.

The path on the jetty is now pretty smooth to the rocky end.

They also have a few of these "decks" that go out over the Marina side.  Looks like it's good for the people fishing.

The boat and buoys catching debris from Ballona Creek.

Sunday, November 6, 2022 -- French & Italian Car Show @ Woodley Park (Van Nuys) - Part 7

Like the wagon version of the DS.
Super large cargo area.

Cool glass covers over the headlamps.
CIBIE is the supplier.

Simple round lenses for the tail lamp cluster.

The wagon hatch hinge is incorporated into this stylized piece.
Very clever and cool.

Peugeot.  This mirror is shaped like a triangle...  Is it a French thing?

Looks Fast
