Mecum auction...

They showed an hour (condensed version) of auction summary on OTA channel 4 this morning.
Not that into auctions but seeing the "perfect" cars roll across the stage is somewhat entertaining.
The bidding is also but kinda meaningless since the dollar figures are beyond my world.
The highest price was for a Corvette. Nearly $2.5m.
I understand rarity is a main factor & that the purchase is like buying "art."
But the intrinsic value of the parts that come together to make a Corvette don't represent that type of $ figure & getting over this to get to the high $ value is too large a valley for me to cross.
The fact that others can cross that valley and reach the peak on the other side is not surprising and can understand that their valleys & peaks are not the same as mine.

Although the valley is deeper for a Corvette than a Ferrari, Porsche or a Bugatti (original), it's still too deep for me to swallow a multi-million dollar value for any old "street" car, even if they only built a "hand full"
