In the early 2000s (2004 to 2006), worked for Nissan.

Drove 350Zs & G35s.  Both used the same steering wheel.

The airbag came with the wheel but was not mounted...

The left mounting bracket (with the weld-nut) was bent.

Bent it back using some pliers.

Two bolts mount the airbag to the steering wheel.

Have this small bin of metric bolts.

Found a couple of right size bolts.

10 mm socket.

Now the airbag is bolted to the wheel.

The metal casting marks, I think, indicate that the casting was made in July of 2002.

 

Saturday, May 21, 2022 -- Manhattan Beach Pier - Lot going on

They're setting up stationary bikes in the parking lot for an event tomorrow (Tour de Pier).

 

Folding desk broken hinge/leg base -- 3 of 3 -- fixed for now

Went to the hardware store and bought some #8 x 1/2" tapered head screws.  Needed 8 screws.  Bought some extra (nice to have around, just in case...).

The original screws are #6 x 1/2".

The difference in diameter is 1/64" (about 1 mm).

To make the screws fit tighter, some pieces of synthetic fabric from a piece of rope was taken apart and stuffed in the screw holes.

Used a very small/thin screwdriver to push the fibers into the holes.

This one plastic base/hinge is broken.

Used super glue.

Don't know if it will hold after repeated use.

Glue...

All used #8 screws in all the holes for both of the broken hinge/base.

Fixed for now.
