New Lease Fit

Couple of the drawers in one of the flat files in the garage

Repairing the Front Brake and Derailleur -- Part 7 (filing, sanding and polishing the metal cover for the LH brake lever)

This is what the damage looked like before starting the repair...

Filed the scratches first

Started sanding the scratched area with very fine sand paper.  Don't want to get into the non-damaged areas & don't want to sand off the labeling.

Still sanding...

Started the polishing

After the polishing (using very fine steel wool).

This is what it looks like under the metal cover.

metal cover installed (one very small Phillips screw)

Looks pretty good

Unless you look closely, the damage is nearly imperceptible.

This is what the damaged one on the original brake lever looks like.  It's pretty much beyond repair...

Repairing the Front Brake and Derailleur -- Part 6 (front derailleur shift cable housing parts and cable - before repair)

Was thinking about possibly replacing the cables housings for the front derailleur shifter cable.  Changed my mind.  Will clean and reuse the cable housing and just replace the cable itself.

Will use the new Teflon coated cable (on the right) to replace the existing cable (on the left).
