Manhattan Beach Pier -- July 27, 2020 (Monday) -- Overcast mid-day

Window mechanism repair

This Pella window doesn't want to close enough for the lock mechanism/lever to catch.

Took the wood piece covering the crank mechanism off.  It was held on with three nails that were installed from the bottom of the window assembly.

This bracket has three screws and they were a little loose.  Just tightened them.

This is one o the nails that held on the cover piece.

One of the three nails's head pulled through the base wood.

The third nail is in the bottom left of this picture.

This pivot point is loose.  The screw is loose and is moving around as the window is opened and closed.

There's an aluminum cover (white exterior) over wood behind this hole.  The wood is soft and won't hold the screw.

Installed a plastic expanding drywall screw insert in this hole.  First had to drill the aluminum plate hole to 1/4".

It's also dirty.  Cleaned the dirt before reassembly.

Before cleaing, drilling and inserting the plastic expander.

Special screw with a pivot shaft for the mechanism arm to ride on.

Can't just replace with a larger screw.
back side of the cover piece of wood.

Plastic "cover" over the crank lever mechanism.
After reassembly, the window just needs a little bit of manual help at the end to close enough to lock.  Not perfect but works enough to close.

Kissimmee

Watching English Premier League game on NBC last weekend.
During an interview, noticed the ad for Kissimmee Florida in the back ad wall.
I'm sure that Florida is a popular vacation destination for the Brits, but the timing with the current Covid situation in Florida is interesting, if not odd...

Garage miscellaneous...2

Added a couple more labels on this tool box.

Need to put away these wrenches.

Hung the MGA grille insert above a couple of lamps.

These long plastic bins fit in the space above the stainless steel upper cabinets.  Will find some stuff to put in the boxes...

Need to get all the stuff off of the beige flat files...

Manhattan Beach Pier -- July 25, 2020 (Saturday) -- Morning

Left the house at 8:15 AM.
Thought it might not be too crowded on the bike path.  Wrong...
I was surprised at how busy it was.
I think for a weekend morning ride, I need to leave the house at 6:30 to avoid the crowds...  too early!

Exercise class next to the pier...  Instructor, in red/white, was yelling instructions and verbally pushing...  I can't see paying to get yelled at...

8:55 AM on the pier clock.  Lots of people!  35 minutes to ride back home...

Garage miscellaneous...

Poured out a container of miscellaneous hardware looking for just the right nut for the kitchen faucet repair...
Bought this inexpensive tap & die set maybe 35 years ago.  Only used it a few times...

Top of the flat file.  Need to put away all this stuff...

Need to find a place to hang this MGA grille insert & backpacks...

Top of the tall stack of flat files is getting crowded...  Need to clear some of it.
