Wednesday, October 7, 2021 -- Milk Tea & Croissant

Used the air fryer to reheat the croissant.
Turns out perfect (very crispy on the outside and soft/warm on the inside).

Tuesday, October 5, 2021 -- Manhattan Beach Pier -- bike is quiet today...

The bike has been making a lot of rattling noises lately.
Seemed like the rear cassette was loose.
Took it apart, inspected and reassembled the cassette.  Tightened the locking ring (using a cassette holding tool).
Also tightened the rear derailleur mounting bolt & freewheel mechanism bolts.

On today's ride, the bike was quiet.
I don't know if it will stay quiet.
There's a lot of miles on a lot of the components (20,000+?)...

Cannondale SixThirteen -- Drivetrain Noise...

There's a lot of noise from the bike (drivetrain?) when riding.
Suspecting that the rear cassette is "loose."
Checked the play on the cassette & there's quite a bit.
Removed the locking "nut" and checked the cassette.
Nothing was missing or broken but there's some play in the interface between the cassette and the hub.

Used the special tool to removed an reinstall the cassette.

Also checked the play in the rear deraileur.
Tightened the screws/bolts for the freewheels/mechanism.
There's play in these components too.

I've probably put about 20,000 miles on the bike since I bought it used.  I've replaced the rear cassette, front derailleur, front chain rings & chain (several times).  The drivetrain parts that haven't been replaced are the wheel/hub, rear derailleur and the bottom bracket.
May have to replace all three at some point in the near future...

There's a spacer on the very inside end of the cassette (closest to the largest gear).
Thinking of seeing if there's an additional thin washer/spacer I can put there to see if the play can be eliminated...   Will check online to see if such a product exists.

Tightened the rear derailleur hanger bolt also...

Checked the bottom bracket (the bearing at the crank) for play or noise.
On the bike stand, I couldn't see or notice any play in the bottom bracket.
This BB is a "threaded" vs. "press fit" type.
The "BC1.37x24 Road" indicate the type and size.

New GUTR..

Bought a new GUTR.
The old one fell apart...

All new design and materials.
I've worn it for a couple of days and it works.
The new materials and the adjustment system is an improvement (no more Velcro).
The old one lasted about 3 years (on average for the two that I used).
On a per use basis, it's pretty cheap (since I use it for every ride!).
We'll see how long this one lasts...

They appear to be pretty proud of it being made in Texas.
