Replacing the tub stopper lever

Been in the house for 27 years.  The tub stopper is badly corroded and it's not holding position properly...  Need to replace

The two screws came out without drama (took some torque to get them to break loose but the threads were OK).  This is the whole assembly that came out of the hole in the tub.

Just needed to slightly open up the metal rod to get it to come off the lever.

The local hardware store had this replacement.  I would have preferred a solid brass construction replacement but this is so easy to replace that were I have to replace it again, it would be just a few minutes (in another 27 years?)...

Simply attach the rod to the lever...

There's a lot of hard water mineral deposits around the hole.

Cleaned off the hard water deposits.

Installed the new lever.

Cleaned the downspout of hard water deposits also.  Finished.
