Long Beach Motorcycle Swap Meet -- Sunday 2/23/2020 -- Used Gerstener O-52 Tool Box (built in 1989) -- Part 2 - Cleaning the top of the box and corner protectors


Three things to note:
(1)  metal corrosion on the corner protector
(2)  metal corrosion on the screw head
(3)  dirt accumulation on the wood around the  corner protector

Removed the screw to clean the metal.  Also cleaned the screw head & used a razor blade to clean the dirt on the wood around the bracket.
After cleaning.  Now need to do the other two screws/sides of the corner protectors on the lid.

All top corners of the metal corner protectors have been cleaned.  Also used some fine sand paper and steel wool to prepare the top surface for applying some wood restorer/ protector.  The original finish was damaged and very uneven.  With some more sanding and applying liquid protectant, the appearance should end up looking more even.  Below is a picture of how it looked before I started on the top surface...
