Bedford 1/2" & 7/16" Whitworth open end wrench

After cleaning

"W" is for Whitworth & "BS" is for British Standard.  Neither of these markings are the actual width of the wrench.  The actual width is what's called "AF" Across Face, and is the basic way that wrenches have been marked for about the last 80 to 100 years, especially in the USA.  AF is the actual width of the jaw of the wrench and the actual width of the nut/bolt across it's flat faces.
