Repairing the Front Brake and Derailleur -- Part 10 (dissolving the aluminum corrosion at the two places where the paint came off)

Will use this product first to remove any corrosion left on the exposed aluminum.

The product is a pink colored gel and in this picture, you can see some of the pink color of the material that was applied to the exposed and corroded aluminum.  I let it stand for about 30 minutes then cleaned it off with a wet paper towel.

Same process at the bottom bracket area.

Next, I'll apply this corrosion neutralizer to the bare aluminum.  This product says that there must be some corrosion left on the surface for it to react to and to create a neutralized protective layer.  I'll let the aluminum stay exposed for a few days so that it will at least have a very light corrosion layer, before I apply this product to see if turns black, like it's supposed to.

I'll try this metal prep chemical also to see if it does the same thing as the neutralizer...
