Tuesday, September 8, 2026 - Bristol and Bath - Part 1

View out from the hotel room.
Drizzling outside.
Planned to rent a bike and ride the Bristol And Bath Railway Path.
I wanted to start in Bristol but I found out that the bike rental place I had planned to use is closed on Tuesdays.  So, I found a rental place in Bath that's open & drove to Bath to do the bike ride in reverse.
Rented from the green park bike station.
Tomas was very helpful.

They take a 50 pound deposit that gets credited back when the bike is returned.
Because they close at 3 PM, when you bring the bike back (any time on the same day), you lock it in front of the store and place the bike lock key in a secure coded box on the door of the shop (which is what I did).  After returning the bike, you send him a picture of the bike locked in front of the store and he credits the deposit back.
There were two older couples inquiring about renting bikes.
There are signs and markers on the rail path.
The rail path is about 16 miles one way between Bath and Bristol.
It's car free and there's only a couple of places where the rail path crosses a road (signals).
Since it's an old disused rail line path, the bike path is pretty wide and goes through a lot of the countryside.
