2009 Honda Fit Repair -- Part 2 and Done

Replaced the broken bumper retainer under the LH headlamp.

Three mounting bolts for the retainer...

Bumper retainer at the LH Fender...

Replaced...

This screw goes into the new retainer at the very tip of the bumper...

Passenger side.  Installed the screw with a retainer...

The bumper bottom is not attached to anything.
Will make a bracket to hold the bottom of the bumper to the frame.
Will use these two holes to mount the bracket.
There are symmetrical holes on both sides of the bottom.

2.75" between the holes.  0.390" diameter hole on the subframe.
So the holes need to match the diameter.
Drilled to 3/8" first then used a carbide bit to increase the hole size to 0.39"

Used a bolt & nut at the bumper cover and one of the new plastic clips at the subframe.
If for some reason the bumper cover gets pulled on, hopefully the clip will break before the bumper cover...

Done.

The plastic trim "sail panel" at the base of the A-pillar broke off.
Will glue it back in place using 3M trim adhesive.
First cleaned the sail panel area and the remaining adhesive material...

Back side of the sail panel after cleaning with alcohol...

Applied generous amount of adhesive...

.
Should take about 24  hours to set.
Done

Cleaned the plastic headlamp covers with alcohol.
Came out pretty good.

The passenger side is a bit more hazy.
Could use a sand & polish but it's good enough.

the rust isn't too bad...

Cleaned thoroughly with a solvent/cleaner & a plastic bristle brush.
Mostly better.

Cleaned with alcohol to remove any cleaner residue.
Then spray painted white.
After painting, no visible spots of rust...
Done.
