Dining table bench - part 28 -- Sanding the edges of the bench...

Need to finish sanding the front edge of the bench (the edge that is straight and faces the table).

I had started sanding the front edge previously.
Need to do the rest...

Set it up vertically for the sander.

Sanded the edge with 60, 100 & 150 grit.  Done.

Also sanded the "live" edge with 60, 100 & 150 grit.

Decided to leave a trace of the dark bark on the live edge to give it a little more character.

This end is pretty coarse.  Will sand it down some.

About 2/3 of the way through the sanding process...

After sanding.
There's some bark "character" left.

Hit the top of the bench with some 150 grit paper, again.

It's ready for the epoxy step.

Hog Ring Pliers...

These pliers are a special tool for installing hog-rings.
Hog-rings are often used in upholstery work to join loose material together using what's essentially a strong staple (hog-ring).

This pair is made by KD (tool brand).

This is basically how it's used...

These example pictures from the net show a variety of possible uses.
They're basically like a metal version of a zip-tie...

The Classic Twin-Cam Engine -- Part 16

Moving stuff around in the garage...

Moved the Matco toolbox next to the flat file in the middle of the garage.  The logic is that the toolbox is used more often than the band saw...

I was going to put the bandsaw where the Matco toolbox was but the bases of the table saw and the bandsaw makes for a pretty big gap between the two.

So I swapped the cabinet and the bandsaw.
It fits better.

Ideally, all the stuff around the bandsaw (plastic bins and boxes) would not be on the floor...

Lots of other stuff that shouldn't be on the floor (or on the horizontal surfaces)...

At least for now, the area near the bikes is pretty clear and relatively roomy...

Sunday, January 17, 2021 -- Manhattan Beach Pier

Went early for a ride.
But, not too early (waited till it got to about 70 F...).
Still pretty crowded on the bike path...
