| The mechanism was stiff. Applied some wax lubricant and it became very smooth and low effort. Works very nicely. |

| The main mechanism got pushed up about 2.5 mm. Used a leather mallet to push the mechanism flush with the wood handle. |

| The original patent was nearly 100 years ago. |

| The direction can be changed by twisting the top of the knurled shaft. |

| Big flocks of sea birds were sitting on the water. The sailboat was motoring out of the marina and was struggling to make progress against the wind. It was tacking back and forth to lessen the effect of the wind. |

| I can't recall ever seeing the water in the channel more choppy than today. |
