| The bottom of the bicycle shoes. These shoes have been making noise. The noise is not from the cleat shown, but from the mounting hardware for attaching smaller cleats usually used for mountain biking. These shoes came with them pre-installed and I should have taken them out when I first mounted the road bike cleats (but I didn't). This is the left shoe. |

| The metal nut insert in the middle is for the smaller mountain bike cleat (I think they're called SPD). Since for road bikes, only the three outer threaded inserts are used to mount the cleat, the nut insert is superfluous. It's OK to leave it in, but recently, they've been sliding back and forth and making noise while riding. The insole of the shoe is not glued it so it can be removed easily, which is what I did. Below the insole is the base of the shoe and there's a couple of slits in the base to allow for the nut insert to be installed & removed. Using a small screwdriver, I pushed the nut insert out. |

| These could actually be put back in if the shoes were ever to be used with the mountain bike type of cleats, but I'll never use them... |
