Saturday, June 1, 2024 -- Fixed the Drooping Gate

Gate was drooping.
The bottom was dragging on the ground.
The gate wouldn't shut right.  Interfered with the fixed gate.
The latch also didn't match.

The upper anchor was pulling out.
I've "fixed" it several times before but it wouldn't stay fixed.
This time, I got some hardware to fix it.

1/2" ratchet set.
The sockets work on both Metric and SAE hardware.

Six inch long bolts.
Need longer bolts to improve overlap with the anchors.

The upper anchor hole is too large at the surface.
Need longer anchors to engate deeper into the stucco wall.

Had previously tried to improve the anchor engagement by putting some spacers around the existing anchors.

Got some longer lag bolts at the local hardware store.
These are 7".

These are 8" long.

Also got some larger and longer anchors.

Took out the old anchors/spacers and installed the larger and longer anchors.

After installing the new hardware.

Gap at the top anchor eliminated.

Also lubricated the hinge pins.

The gate works well now.
We'll see if it stays fixed this time...
