Took it apart.
Just bending back the tabs makes the pieces "spring" apart...
Back cover piece with the contacts.
Corrosion on one of the contacts is pretty severe.
The staining is from when there was water spreading between the pieces...
Several pieces to the design...
This is with all the pieces separated.
Clever design. No fasteners involved...
The U-shaped metal part moves the contact plate up and down and is spring loaded by the push button.
When depressed...
Even on the outside portion of the wiring connector bracket, there's evidence of corrosion.
The pieces on the right (when flipped over) normally sit on top of the piece on the left.
The relative position of the pieces represent when the button is not being pushed.
When the button is pushed, the piece on the right is moved down and makes a connection to both contacts on the back plate.
I put the pieces in this drawer for now.
May save the springs and push button to put in one of the storage bins for "miscellaneous hardware"...
