The nut goes on first...
Then the rubber button cover also threads onto the switch.
There are six switches/displays in the center console.
Took a couple of pictures under the passenger side dash lower area for reference.
Wiper motor.
The old starter switch.
The three thick washers (about 6 mm) were needed to space the switch back so it doesn't stick out too much.
The new switch doesn't need the spacers.
My guess is that water got into the switch through the push button area (can see some corrosion on the push button).
I'll take apart later to see if my theory is correct.
