Fixing the Bike Shoe... Again

Super small screws/nuts (have to use super small screw driver & wrench!)

My previous repair broke...

Will install a larger metal patch on both sides of the clip.
Cutting out the patches from a thin sheet of stainless steel.

Using small vise-grips to hold one of the patches in place so that the previously drilled holes can be used to mount the new reinforcements.

Drilled through the previous holes into one of the stainless patches.

3/32" drill bit...

After the two holes were drilled into one patch, the other patch was located and also drilled through.

Used a sandpaper block to take the burrs off the stainless steel sheet patch.

After installing the two screws/nuts.

Located the patch on the shoe in it's correct place.

Used a centerpunch to locate the holes.

First drilled two of the three holes and installed the screws/nuts.

Then drilled the third hole.

Used a fine metal file to clean up the burrs around the drilled holes.

After installing the screws & tightening.
The screws stick out a few mm.

Used an air powered cutoff tool to grind down the screws to be flush with the nuts.

After grinding.

Repair finished.
Don't know how long the repair will last.
I ordered some new shoes.  Should come next week.
Will keep these shoes as backup/spares.
