The plastic bracket for the tachometer (on the left side of this picture) also broke in one place so it was also glued back together with super glue. There's a wavy spring that keeps the plastic bracket in the correct place relative to the gauge itself. This spring has quite a bit of tension on it when it's installed. During removal of the spring, I allowed too much spring pressure to be placed on the plastic bracket & that's why it broke. I needed to use a different technique of removing the spring (towards the face of the gauge) which would have lessened the pressure on the plastic bracket from the spring. Now I know how to take it apart & put it back together properly... |
