Repairing the Front Brake and Derailleur -- Part 4 (fixing a couple of issues with the front brake)

Fixed the brake quick release mechanism by loosening this screw slightly (Allen wrench in place), lubricating the adjuster and working it several times.  The front piece of the adjuster appears to be a plated metal round part).  The plating is corroding off...

Using a drill bit (by hand), pushed the debris in the brake cable hole out by repeatedly pushing the drill bit in and out of the hole.  Had to use a small hammer to push the drill bit in and out.  Eventually, the hole was cleared.

This black plastic "tube" was pushed out of the brake cable hole at the top of the brake assembly.  I don't know why it was there in the first place but once this came out, the hole was clear.  The brake should not stick anymore!

I can see through the hole now, to the other side.

I have some replacement brake and shifter cable hardware.  It should be enough stuff to replace the stuff that I removed from the bike.
