Garage Organizing - part 23 - Finding more homes for stuff...

Makita drill kit.  Handy setup for working "off site"

Using this shallow drawer to store rasp drill bits (need to label the drawer).  This tool box has Douglas aircraft stickers on the inside and outside of the box.  It also came with these tags...  I wonder if H. W. Gill is still around...

Overview of which tool box the rasp drill bits are in.

The stainless steel shelf units have a lip on the bottom that I can clip hooks to.  I've placed a hook between the two tool boxes to hang...

a drag racing parachute "pre-chute"  (this is the first thing that "spring" out to catch the wind and pulls the large chute out)

The space above the Bosch tool box is just enough for a large clear plastic bin.  Will fill the bin with stuff later (but it can't be too heavy, so relatively light stuff...).

Tuesday, May 12, 2020 -- Marina Del Rey -- Clouds & Windy; Red tide is fading...

It's cool (high 60s) and more windy than usual.  Makes getting to this turnaround point hard (ride directly into the headwind)...

This is where I stop, take a short break (water/Gatorade) then ride back home.  This picture shows the "cageless" water bottle on the bike.  I also use a headlight (in flashing mode) even when riding in the daytime (the bike path is narrow and many people don't look ahead to see what's coming at them and will wander on the wrong side of the bike path.  The flashing headlight, even in the day light, increases the chance that people may see me coming.  If they don't, I have to say something...).

The puffy white clouds are fantastic...

Rare to see a tug boat on the Marina Del Rey channel...

More clouds...  The ride from home to this turnaround point and back takes a little less than 1/2 hour... (about 9 miles)

The red tide is going away.  I can see more of the rocks under the water and the color is fading...

Garage Organizing - part 22 - Finding more homes for stuff...

pinewood derby stuff...  Will find other places to store it (don't have space for the bin).

Using the space around the ice cooler for spray cans...

Has to do with vacuum tubes...  Box will go in one of the stainless steel upper cabinets on the RH side of the garage...

Using the narrow space on the side of the storage cabinet for some narrow brief cases...

Pretty much full...

Upper half of the storage cabinet is full

Lower half of the storage cabinet is also full...

Using the top storage of the tool box to store taller items...

Garage Organizing - part 21 - Stuff on the table saw needing homes & the current state of the garage...

Stuff on the table saw...  All needs to move...

LH end of the table saw top

the rest of the table saw top...

The upper tool box will find a different place to live...

The two tool boxes in the middle will find different homes...

general state on and around the table saw (on wheels)...  Will change some...

LH side of the garage with the book cases.  This area will change some too...

Thinking of shifting the band saw & flat file island over to the right a few inches and moving the rolling book shelf unit away from the book case doors...

In progress...

Thursday, May 14, 2020 -- Marina Del Rey

School of Pelicans on the Ballona Creek side of the channel.

Pretty big dual hull sail boat.

Even bigger boat.  The hydro-foil one person sail boat was zipping up and down the Marina Del Rey Channel (the coast guard has previously told him not to "sail" in the in/out channel...  I guess if they're not around...)

Nice design...

Garage Organizing - part 20 - Finding some homes...

This Bosch tool box holds a couple of Milwaukee sawzalls and a large nail gun.  The space above it is enough for one of the large clear plastic bins...

Found homes for the dual-saw & the smaller nail guns.  The red tool box (at the bottom of the picture) is here for now, but is one of the things that I will probably not keep...

Pretty compact in this right rear area of the garage (pretty much utilized all the available space)...

Pretty much everything in this picture need new homes (the goal is to have empty horizontal surfaces)...

Some stuff is going to end up staying in the larger clear plastic bins for now.  Just not enough storage space for all the stuff...

The drawers of the tool cart are full of 1/43 scale models. (there's a grinder/ steel wheel behind the cut-off saw on the top of the cart - can't see it in this picture)

Garage Organizing - part 19 - stuff currently on the horizontal surfaces that need homes...

Right rear base cabinet counter (the vise is bolted in place and is staying along with the air hose.  The stand up air compressor is on the right).

Middle lower cabinet counter (dropped down so that the surface of the chop saw is the same height as the counters on either side...).  The chop-saw and the small drill press will stay where they are but all the small items around them will have to find homes...

LH lower cabinet counter.  All the miscellaneous stuff needs to find homes...

Flat file island.  Everything on here needs to move...

This stuff needs to get stored...

More and more stuff is temporarily landing on the flat files on the RH side of the garage...  It all needs to find homes...

From Bay City Italian Deli in Santa Monica

The fresh baked bread & made-to-order (online) sandwiches are some of the best around... (may be the best bread...)

Garage Organizing - part 18 - more stuff in the garage floor that need homes...

The stuff in plastic bin will mostly fit in the flat files.  Tool boxes like this one are more difficult to deal with because you can't stack them...

As stuff is being stored in the flat files and elsewhere in the garage, more and more empty plastic bins...

Most of this stuff can find a home somewhere in the garage but the tool box is difficult... (this is a very old Snap-on tool box with a fold open front and two drawers behind it... the handle needs repair.)

I'll empty this green plastic bin and put the stuff that's inside somewhere else (don't have space for green bin anymore in the garage).

This bin has stuff from when T. was in cub scouts and did pinewood derby...

More stuff that need homes...
