Pole Position...

Don't think I've ever parked in pole position at the Gardena Marukai before...

Tuesday, November 2, 2021 -- Manhattan Beach Pier

Toyota Tacoma.
They used to drive Nissan pickups...

It's much brighter at the horizon...

Wind is back to typical (blowing mostly directly onshore)...

Looking north towards Santa Monica...

Sunday, October 31, 2021 -- Long Beach Antique Swap Meet -- Part 4

Edmund G. Brown was governor of California from 1959 to 1967.

The plate number is printed on the sleeve that it came in.

E is for "Exempt" meaning the vehicle is a state owned/operated vehicle and is exempt from registration/fees.
The eight sided line around the "E" signifies that it's a civilian state use vehicle (as opposed to the "E" surrounded by a diamond shaped line which signifies that it's for a police/law enforcement vehicle).

This plate is new (NOS) and appears to have never been installed on a vehicle.

2022 Honda Civic Si..

My first new car was a 1984 Honda Civic hatchback.
Basically the same car in the picture, except not the Si version.
Just the normal version...
It was a good car.

It's not so obvious in these pictures but the old Civic is probably two feet shorter than the new one and weighed less than 2,000 lbs.
The tires and brakes lasted a long time because the car is so light.

Lighter weight makes everything better...
Pretty much applies to everything!

Monday, November 1, 2021 -- Manhattan Beach Pier

Cool (mid 60s) overcast day...
Palos Verdes Peninsula is hazy in the distance...

Pretty quiet at the beach...

The parking lots are nearly empty...

Sunday, October 31, 2021 -- Long Beach Antique Swap Meet -- Part 3

Installed in the kitchen.
Covers a small hole and mounting hardware evidence from where the land-line phone used to be mounted...

Sunday, October 31, 2021 -- "Surawon Tofu House" Korean Restaurant in Korea Town (near Olympic and Normandy)

Kind of a dive.
The prices are not cheap but the food was good.
The "ban-chan" (side dishes) were good too (the kim-chee seemed home-made, fresh and tasty).

"soon-du-bu" (tofu stew).
I got the pork dumpling version with the "black soybean tofu" in it.
Got the "spicy" level (there's 5 levels, spicy is level 4, just below "extra spicy").
The menu on the table says that they make their own tofu daily...

Sunday, October 31, 2021 -- Waiting in the Checkout Line at Tokyo Central

Super crowded in the middle of the day on Sunday.
The normal checkout line wound around the store!
This is the line for the "self checkout" area.
Wasn't too bad (about 10 minutes...).

Not to self, don't go in the middle of the day on Sunday!

Sunday, October 31, 2021 -- Long Beach Antique Swap Meet -- Part 2

It was a perfect weather day for a swap meet.
Cool and overcast...

This guy is always there, with lots of tools.
There's some stuff I like but he's asking for too much...

Asking $20K...?!
In my mind, it's worth $2K...

Sunday, October 31, 2021 -- Long Beach Antique Swap Meet -- Part 1

Like the look of the old Crosley radio on the top shelf.

The Airplane Gauge Cluster looks like it was either a movie prop or something that someone put together for display.
The two center gauges are fake, but the four outer gauges are real.

Nice selection of tool boxes but priced pretty high...

I've seen this musical instrument vendor before.
His van is packed full of instruments, even after he takes the ones out for his tables...

Someone made these old Haliburton travel cases into custom camera equipment cases.
There's a phone number on one of the insides that starts with a name then 5 digits (before they went to just numbers).
So, maybe from the 1950s?

Creative plant display design...

Nice hardware sales cabinet...

I have a similar cart.
Will probably move it on...

Prosthetic arm?!

Nice old tools and nice display for sale...
