Saturday, October 26, 2024 - Used up bike parts - wore these out

The Dura-Ace  rear cassette and chain are both worn out.
I cleaned them both.
Kind of a representation of the history of the bike I've ridden for the last 11 or 12 years & about 20,000 miles.

I cleaned the parts by soaking in Simple Green.
Surprisingly, the parts got more "crusty" soaking in Simple Green.
Will not do that again.
Will buy some solvent/cleaner specifically for cleaning metal parts.

I must have spent a lot of time on this 15 tooth gear.
There's one tooth on the 3-O'clock position that's so worn that it's almost a point.
The dip between the teeth should be about a half circle or ellipse shape but the dip before the sharp tooth is more like a French curve shape.
