Tuesday, December 28, 2021 -- Spring Moutain Ranch State Park, NV

Intended to visit Red Rock State Park but it was on a reservation basis and was sold out so no "non-reservation" visitors were allowed in...

Just a few miles down the road is this small state park so we made a short visit.

It's an old ranch property with connections to Hollywood and was at one time owned by Howard Hughes...

Saturday, December 25, 2021 -- Christmas Day -- Bell Canyon Granite Trail & Temple Square

Tried to hike the Bell Canyon Granite Trail.

The trail was very icy!

Went just a short distance and had to turn around.  Just a narrow sheet of ice!  Can't go on without crampons...

The Mormon Temple is going through structural reinforcement...

Pretty much nothing was going on or open in the temple area...

 Very little open on Christmas day...

We found an all you can eat Korean BBQ restaurant on the way back to the Air b-n-b.

The place was packed!

We got some takeout and ate back at the Air BnB.

The restaurant was staffed with young Chinese speaking people (Taiwanese?).  The "Korean" food we ordered (bul-go-gi, bi-bin-bap, gal-bi & kim-chee chi-gae) was good but not very Korean.  Almost as if an "American" had made a version that would match American tastes...

Strange but on Christmas day, beggars can't be...

The other surprise was how inexpensive it was.  Cheaper than a lot of the fast-food style places we got food from during the trip.

Product of Thailand

All the way from Thailand...

The contents include a fruit called Acerola.

Reading about it, seems to be a fruit similar in appearance to cherries but also called a "super-fruit" due to high ascorbic acid content...

Been to Thailand once.

So far away and so different...

Amazing that this package came from so far away.

Got it at the breakfast bar at the Fairfield Inn, in Virgin, Utah.

The logistics of where these fruits were grown, processed, packaged, sent to a warehouse, transported through trucks, ocean crossing ship to more trucks warehouse to more trucks to end up at the Fairfield Inn, in Virgin Utah, is kinda mindboggling...

I'm guessing it cost Fairfield Inn 50 cents to purchase...

Virgin River...

Maybe one day, we'll come back when there's no snow/ice and go to the end...

Used the air fryer.

Comes out crispy on the outside & soft on the inside.

Just about perfect...

Sunday, December 26, 2021 -- Moved from Lehi to Virgin, UT

Snowed overnight...

It's warm enough that the snow didn't accumulate on the ground.

Later on in the drive to Virgin, it started to snow.  The road was snow/ice covered at times (I-15) & had to drive very carefully.

Passed a Subaru that spun out and had both ends of the car crunched...

Had to go very slow at times but made it to Virgin in one piece without incident.

Rest stop...

The rest rooms were inside a heated building so nice and warm inside!

Arrived at the Fairfield Inn, in Virgin (new hotel/motel).

Pretty nice building and interior.

The mid-grade motel/hotels are getting nicer...

The rooms are better designed and equipped/built with better materials than before.

Car is covered in salt...

The road was pretty icy at times, so I don't mind the salt on the road if it prevents an accident...

 

Monday, December 27, 2021 -- Zion National Park -- Part 8

SKMK & I went just a little bit past this point, then turned around.

The snow/ice on the trail was getting worse and we didn't have the best shoes for such conditions (micro-crampons would be good;  some people came prepared with them...).

The pictures don't convey the sensation of height (nearly 1,400 feet down...).
