Garage Organizing - part 53 -- Rearranging, again -- Putting 1/87 scale model cars in the tall flat files.....

All of these came from the annual Porsche Swap Meet at the LAX Hilton, over the last couple of years...  Haven't counted but probably more than 200...

This scale model cars (1/87 or HO scale) is where all the collecting started from about 30 years ago...

Friday, June 5, 2020 -- Manhattan Beach Pier

Overcast day.  Hardly anyone on the beach at lunch time.  Some big choppy surf...

Garage Organizing - part 52 -- Rearranging, again -- Lancia Dash & Kennedy tool box bases.....

Decided to move the Lancia dash to where these two Kennedy Lower Base cabinets were (on top of the gray flat files).  They were not very accessible being so high and back on the tall flat files.  It's a better location for something to display than something requiring access...

Had to temporarily clutter up the rear counters with the stuff that need homes...

Painful to clutter up the cleared spaces, even temporarily...

Cleared and cleaned the table top of the island flat file...

The top of the tall flat file has been cleared  & cleared.  It's ready for the Lancia Dash.  I measured the dash and it's too wide.  Have to move the Kennedy tool boxes on either side of the tall flat files over a few inches on both sides...

Don't really want to put stuff on the island flat file, but for now these bases will live here.  On the other hand, in terms of access to the drawers, it can't be much better.

It would be better to have the whole top of the island flat files be clear...  Oh well...

Thursday, June 4, 2020 -- Manhattan Beach Pier & Pasta Salad

Some big but choppy wave action today...

Parking staying closed...

Made a big batch of Italian pasta salad last night.  Enough for 15 servings.  Should last a few days...

Garage Organizing - part 51 -- Moved a light & added labels.....

Moved one of the orange hanging lights next to the one in the top-middle of this picture.  Now they are next to each other (I just have two of these)...

Added more drawer labels...

A little more floor space reclaimed...

Wednesday, June 3, 2020 -- Manhattan Beach Pier

Overcast most of the morning...  Sun is just trying to peek out at lunch itme...

Can't see Catalina at all...

A little past noon...

Pretty overcast still, looking south...

Garage Organizing - part 50 -- Another steering wheel hanger in the rafters...

Had to move a large level over about a foot to the right on this beam (you can see the end of it just behind the curved container on the RH side of the picture...) to make room to install this hanger.

Moved several steering wheels and a handle bar onto this hanger from other hangers to better distribute the load on the structure.  The steering wheel on the end is from a 60's/70's BMW.  The Brown Porsche steering wheel needs a brown center pad (I got the wheel without the center pad.  I happened to have a black pad already...)

The small wheel on the right is from a "Cooper" (My guess is that it's from a 1980's Mini Cooper).

Rearranged some of the wheels on these hangers...

This is a "before' shot.  I rearranged some of the wheels on the hanger on the RH side of this picture...

The wheels near the entrance to the garage;  some of these also got rearranged...

Tuesday, June 2, 2020 -- Manhattan Beach Pier Protest & New coffee maker

This was the scene when I got to the Pier at lunch time...

I could hear people making speeches and the group intermittently cheering...

It's hard to see but there's a police boat near the pier with lights flashing.  I didn't hang around too long.  Rode back home without incident.  If anything the bike path was nearly empty because the protest blocked it for people coming north on the path...

We got a new coffee maker (the french press worked well but the cleanup is more involved).  It has a feature to set it all up and have it start at a certain time.  It works well.  It's larger than our last one that I broke but it seems like they don't make simple/basic/small units anymore.

Normally, our coffee maker would get used occasionally on the weekends, but in the last two and a half months, coffee is being made every morning...

Garage Organizing - part 49 -- Moved some more stuff from the top of the table-saw...

Moved more stuff from the top of the table saw.  Now about 75% cleared.  Did a quick clean of the cast iron part that's exposed...

Stuff went from on top of the table saw to below the table saw (there's a built-in shelf).

It's useful storage space under the table saw, but the tool boxes that "live" in front of the table saw makes access not ideal...

Have to move the red tool box to access the stuff behind it...  Not the worst solution, for now.
