Garage Organizing - part 9

Moved the Halliburton suit case & a large model kit above the corner storage cabinet (it's on wheels like nearly everything in the garage).  This is an efficient use of space for the larger items that don't really fit in other places...

Used even the space between the joists for storage.  This stuff will get blocked by other stuff so having these pictures will help in the future...

This aluminum tank also needs to go back in the garage.  It's not able to sit on it's brackets because of this pipe.  Will remove it.

Used a pipe wrench to remove this short piece of pipe.

Now with the pipe out of the way the tank will sit flat on it's brackets.

This looks like it was used as a fuel tank for a hot-rod.  It's on the small side (maybe 7 gallons?).  It's aluminum so it's very light.  When I got it, I was thinking of converting it into a portable compressed air tank but I'm not so sure now...  I have a steel portable compressed air tank but it's very heavy and cumbersome.

Perfect weather day.  About 70F at the beach...

Some people are riding with masks and some are not.  My take on it is that as long as you don't linger near anyone, the chances of spreading the virus are pretty minimal while riding a bicycle...

The red tide is still pretty intense...  You can barely see anything below the surface (visibility must be just inches...)

Garage Organizing - part 8

Moved the Snap-on tool box base in front of the window & placed a Kennedy tool box set above it to maximize the use of the vertical space.  Ultimately, I'd like to keep the front area of the flat file horizontal surface clear, like in this picture.
I also moved the blue shelf unit up higher and placed a narrow Kennedy tool box and base under it, again to maximize the vertical space use.

Decided to move the old metal tool cart here for storage for now.  It's on wheels and can be moved out easily.  Also used the top surface of the tool cart to store a metal cutoff saw and a Wilton vise, for now.

This was taken before I put the Matco tool box in the garage, but it shows some of the other stuff that's waiting to be put back (not counting the stuff under the blue tarp).  Still some work to do & it gets harder as the limited space in the garage gets used up...

Garage Organizing - part 7

This is one of the larger items that need to come back into the garage.  It's a large Halliburton suitcase with a portable record player (Japanese) stored inside.  The record player looks like a large briefcase but opens into a record player with two large separate speakers.  It works pretty well (I've played some records on it in the past).

This old tool cart is also something that has to find a home inside the garage for now.  Ultimately, I'll probably not keep it but for now it's inside...

This Matco tool chest is now in the place where the wood cabinet used to be.  The cabinet was moved outside under the tarp for now.  With the Snap-on tool box base cabinet on top, it's kinda too tall to be in the middle of the garage...  I'll find a different home for the Snap-on tool box base cabinet.

I need to find a place to display or store the air intake...

Wednesday, May 6, 2020 -- Marina Del Rey - Pirate Goldfish

This is one of the few boats that I recognize, because of the pirate goldfish on the sail...  It goes out pretty frequently.

Garage Organizing - part 6

More utilization of the space between the upper cabinets and the gray flat file.  Put a small Kennedy tackle box and an old Stromberg carburetor parts bin above the Kennedy lower cabinets.

At least for now, I put the cordless drills near the chargers.

Although this is a nice arrangement, I think I have to put something here that better utilizes the available space.

I stacked some of the books on the top shelf to better pack them in.  Of course the downside is that I can't tell which books they are!

The narrow book case is not even close to blocking the garage door that actually gets used sometimes.  I'll probably find something to store in the gap space at the end of the tall book case and the end of the door it's sitting in front of...

Garage Organizing - part 5

Decided to move this toolbox in place of the toolbox base I had here before.  This arrangement better utilizes the vertical space under the upper cabinets.

A place to hang this set of wrenches...  There will be stuff in front of it to utilize the space, but they'll still be pretty accessible.

Plenty of space to open the top lid of the toolbox fully.

Placed the battery chargers on top of the wider toolbox base.

Moved the narrow tool box base to the left side of the flat file.

Backyard -- Trimming & Clearing

The kids did an incredible amount of work to take down a dead lemon tree, other smaller dead trees, brush & vines...

They made piles of the green debris & we've been taking it out using the Green bin every week.  Have even been borrowing the neighbor's bin to double up the removal but it's quite a lot of stuff and will take many weeks/months to get rid of...

The right rear of the back yard is pretty much cleared.

The left rear of the back yard is also pretty much cleared.  There's a small pile of debris to get rid of.  This is the corner that the lemon tree used to be...  Maybe a new lemon tree?  Or?

The main pile of stuff to get rid of.  First, the larger pieces will be cut down to small sizes to better fit in the green bin...

The last area that needs to be trimmed & cleared is on the side of the house with the concrete block wall...

Garage Organizing - part 4

This is the light switch that's behind the Kennedy tool box base.  You have to reach around but it's still accessible.

These two outlets will be behind some tool boxes.  There will be enough space to plug things in but it won't be so easily accessible. A necessary compromise for now...

The bicycle and steering wheels got reorganized in this area to make things a little more compact.

It's really nice to have this open space on this side of the garage but it can't stay this way because a lot of larger items need to come back into this space...

Moved the narrower Kennedy tool box base in front of the outlets.  I'm not sure about this arrangement yet...

Still need to move the blue shelf up...

The Red vise is just sitting on the back counter & needs to find a different place...
