Cable Guides for the Teledyne

Bought these very cool Shimano Dura Ace cable guides at the Whittier Bicycle Swap Meet. They turned out to be too small for the Teledyne (which uses larger than standard diameter tubes). The guy I bought them from said I could get my money back if they don't fit (he's there every month), but I think I'm going to keep them. They're very cool and probably pretty rare...

Doesn't fit. The "nut" portion of the clamp has two flat sides. The hope in the metal guide has matching shape so that the nut doesn't turn in the hole. Nice attention to detail...

At the same swap meet, I bought a set of three of these cable housing guides. They are marked "TEKTRO." Went to their website (Taiwan based company) and they make & sell these currently.

Perfect fit on the Teledyne. They have the vintage look also.

Shimano Ultegra BR-6700 Brakes for the Teledyne

Bought these used brakes at the Whittier Bicycle Swap Meet. They appear to be complete and lightly used, except they are missing the adjusters that go at the top of the arm sticking up in the picture.

The longer mounting stud on the left brake is for the front brake. It goes through the fork so it needs to be longer.

This picture shows the brake pads. They are slid into place from one end. The front and rear brakes are setup opposite to each other so that the force from the braking will push the pads into the closed end. This also makes it obvious which is the front and which is the rear brake...

I just test fitted the front brake on the fork to see if there's any fit issues. There doesn't appear to be any problems.

Cleaned the brakes. They look pretty nice once cleaned. Not perfect but looks almost new. The satin finish on these brakes match the satin raw finish on the titanium frame... Looks really nice.

Found this picture of what the adjuster looks like... They're available for purchase on Amazon but they would cost more than what I paid for the brakes! Will have to find a cheaper alternative...

Seat post modified and installed on the Teledyne (and some top tube cable housing holders)

Had to cut down the seat post (make it shorter). Then had to sand down the diameter so that it would slip down the tube smoothly. I don't know if the seat post tube on the bike is slightly out of round or the seat post was just too large a diameter. After sanding, it installed nice and smoothly and down far enough for me to be able to ride this larger frame (seat post has to be pushed down pretty far).

Also installed these steel cable holders to the top tube. There was a "stain" or shadow where there used to some clamps before someone stripped this bike down. Bought these at the last Whittier bicycle swap meet. They fit pretty much perfectly.

Bicycle Seat Post for Teledyne

Bought this 26.8 mm diameter seat post (the most common size is 27.2 mm, which I have a couple of but the Teledyne uses 26.8 mm).

The seat post is too long. The frame is too big for me so the seat post only needs to stick out a couple of inches from the seat tube. With about 4 inches of overlap needed, about six inches from the bottom of this post can be cut off. I used a metal cutting chop saw to shorten in.

The seat post does not slide down the seat tube smoothly. It's quite a tight fit and wants to bind. I'll have to take a little bit off the outside of the seat post so that it's not so tight.
