Saturday, December 11, 2021 -- Pelican Parts Cars & Coffee - Part 11 & Last
Coming down the hill from PV.
The distant mountains are relatively clear this morning...
Went to "Lomita's Best" for breakfast with SF after the cars & coffee...

Friday, December 17, 2021 -- Manhattan Beach Pier
Clear day after the rain yesterday..
Catalina is pretty clear.
The flags are fairly still. Not too much wind...
There's four large ships anchored off shore near Dockweiler Beach...
It's a beautiful day (mid 60s).
Sat at the right bench to rest...
The parking lot is pretty full.
T coming into LAX...
T is coming in this morning on Southwest.
Stopped and parked here just a couple of blocks north of the airport entrance, on Sepulveda Blvd.
It's easier to wait here than to try to wait inside the airport circle.
T texted when he was about to go out to the curb after picking up his luggage. It worked our well...
It was warmer in Evanston than here over the last couple of days or so. Very unusual...
It's going to be very cold there starting tomorrow though so good timing for being here.
Saturday, December 11, 2021 -- Pelican Parts Cars & Coffee - Part 10
The two main instruments (speedo & tach) are cast metal pods.
They're painted with wrinkle finish paint and are very cool.
This is one very expensive way to do the two main gauges.
They only did this for one or two years. Then they went to the typical gauge cluster layout, which is much cheaper to make and cheaper to assemble.
I have a pair of these gauges/pods in the garage.
Also have the steering wheel...
Nice cast wheels.
Look similar to the Ferrari wheel designs of the period...
Nice 328, not in red...
This Impala has so much stuff on it that it almost transcends the gaudy to the interesting...
Maserati SUV...
Probably the largest Trident logo every put on a Maserati.
It's probably plastic.
Can't tell but the Maserati badge on the nose may also be plastic (instead of cast metal with ceramic/resin). I hope not...
RQ's car with the booster seat for his daughter...
I understand why but not my cup of tea...

New Summer Bicycling Gloves
It's a good quality brand (Japanese company).
I'm not a fan of the lime green but a little bit of color is good for visibility when riding.
I've had my old gloves for over 5 years (don't remember exactly how long). They're pretty much used up...
Wore them a few times already.
They fit perfectly and do a very good job of damping the palms.
They're summer gloves though so not warm enough for anything less than about 60 to 65F...
Saturday, December 11, 2021 -- Pelican Parts Cars & Coffee - Part 9
There were a lot of late model cars that showed up.
Fewer "classics" than usual.
Maybe it was because it was pretty cold in the morning.
I just walk by the late model cars...
Although they're very nice, not very interesting...
Like the round lamps.
I think they're off some very cheap economy car from the 60s...
Great front end design.
The fog and spot lamps look good...
Pretty terrible bumpers...
A real RUF Turbo...
A lot of custom component all over the car, including the door trim, steering wheel, seats, gauges, etc.
Another scary engine bay for servicing...
The oval buttons and the airbag cover look cheap and not up to what you imagine to be Mercedes quality...
