Just saw a piece on Gordon Murray's car collection on YouTube.

I have models of a couple of the cars from the video sitting around on my desk...

 

Friday, April 16, 2021 -- Manhattan Beach Pier

Not too busy at the pier area.

A bit surprising on a Friday at lunch time...

Lots of outdoor dining space...

I like the surfboard carrier setup on this bike (it's hard to see in the picture).

It's setup to carry it behind the rider (instead of next to the rider in a lot of the cases).

It doesn't make the footprint any wider and is pretty much out of the way of the rider.

 

Replacing the rear tire on the Cannondale 6/13...

Wore through the rear tire tread on the bike (Continental Gatorskins, 23 mm width).

The front is still OK so will replace the rear only at this time.

I have this Continental Grand Prix 4season in 25 mm width.

25 mm is a better width for general riding (more tread, more air volume, more grip/comfort without much increase in rolling resistance).

Installation instructions in multiple languages on both sides of the paper!

Removed the old tire

Installed the new one.  Takes about 10 minutes...

Standup Desks for Elementary School Kids -- Part 2

Four more broken ones to fix.

Drilled a second location for a screw and nut on the plastic feet.

Bought some stainless hardware at the local hardware store (#6 x 3/4").  The first washer on the right is from aircraft and is made of aluminum.  It's rather thick and has a taper on one side.

With the tapered screw head, it's a good combination.

Added felt pads on the bottom of the plastic feet also.

 

Wednesday, April 14, 2021 -- Manhattan Beach Pier - Cool... (low 60s) -- More and more electric bikes...

Both are electric...

Not so many people at the beach.  The parking lots nearest to the pier are 1/2 empty...

The three parked bikes in this picture are also electric...
