Elusive Cat...

Room mate's cat came out of the bedroom maybe a couple of times a day when we were there.
Doesn't get close...
Saunters around slowly then goes back...

Tuesday, December 1, 2020 -- Manhattan Beach Pier -- Fast Ride...

Averaged 19.62 MPH today.
My average is 18.71, so quite a bit faster.
Getting close to averaging 20 MPH for 20 miles.
Don't know if I'll get there...

Spent 42% of the time at 20 MPH or faster...

It's a perfect weather day.
Sunny, not too windy and mild temperature.
According to the forecast, it should stay that way for awhile...

mini thermoelectric fridge...

Received this as a gift, many years ago.
Still have not used it.
12V powered.
Thought about using it on the drive up north to the Bay area but there wasn't enough space in the car.
Will still have to wait to try it out one of these days on a driving trip...

Honda Campus in the early evening -- Pretty empty, especially because of COVID...

Side table clean & Danish Oil -- Part 2

Applied two coats then let it "dry" for about 30 minutes.
Then, wiped down all the surfaces with a clean cloth.
Turned out OK.
The finish evened out some of the stains and made them less noticeable to the casual eye.

Will take it up to Shelb so she can use it in her bedroom as a side table next to an armchair that she bought.

Monday, November 30, 2020 -- Manhattan Beach Pier -- Can see Catalina Island...

Nice day for a bike ride.
Warm (about 75 F).
It's a little more windy than usual (winds from the W at about 13 MPH, according to the weather info...) but not too bad.

On the left is Palos Verdes Peninsula (about 20 miles away along the coast).
On the right is Catalina Island (about 30 miles from the pier as the crow flies...).

Farmer's Market near Merritt Lake

Bought lunch at the farmer's market.
Got some Dim Sum, Tamale, Croissant...

Ate on the grass around the man made lake.
Ate half the Dim Sum before taking the picture...
Was good...

LG (Louis Garneau) Bike shoes -- Unusual failure...

The RH bike shoe broke.
The plastic piece that cinches down the top area broke off of the shoe.
Very strange failure...

This is how it was before it broke.

This is what it looks like with the piece broken off...

The plastic piece was sewn onto the top flap.
The plastic broke where the stitches went through the plastic.

View from the back side of the top flap...

The white plastic piece goes into the broken beige colored plastic piece.

Using a small screw driver, the two pieces can be separated.

The beige colored plastic is what broke...
I think I can fix the shoe if I can get a replacement beige plastic piece...  I kinda doubt that it can be found.

Side table clean & Danish Oil -- Part 1

This is a side table that I'm taking up to Shelb.
Will clean it & apply some Danish oil.

The legs are pretty dirty...

The top is a little dirty and has quite a few spill stains but it's not too bad...
I'm pretty sure it's a veneer over solid (jointed together) wood, so sanding would be pretty limited in terms of how much you could take off.  Not worth the risk/work.

One of the sides before cleaning...

After cleaning the surfaces, started applying the Danish oil finish.
Put the first coat on and let it set for about 15 minutes before putting on the second coat...

The drawer fronts seem to soak up quite a bit of the oil, as if the wood was somewhat dry...

Applied the oil to the drawer opening areas also...
