Garage Organizing - part 37.5 -- magazines

Posted out of sequence...  Oh well.

Will be passing on most of these magazines to a friend.  He'll go through them then recycle them...

After a little bit of sorting, this is the "pass on" pile (only a few items were mixed in that didn't belong in the pile...)

Emptied one bin and once the magazines are gone, there will be another empty bin...

Shelb made this blue & orange turtle coaster for me (crocheted)...

It gets used every day...  Cafe com Leite...
Straight black coffee in the Porsche cup...

Garage Organizing - part 43 -- Lumidor tool box on the RH side of the drill press on the rear counter...

The Plomb tools that went into the Kennedy box next to the drill press came out of this drawer.  Need to vacuum...

After vacuuming.  Decided to use this drawer to store 1/4" socket tools  (the tool box just to the right of this one has a drawer for 1/4"&3/8" socket tools and another drawer for 1/2" socket tools...).  Dedicated the 1/4"&3/8" drawer to just 3/8" and moved the 1/4" socket stuff to this drawer.  Forgot to take a picture of this drawer after I moved stuff into it...

Also put more stuff in the top compartment of the box.  This is the LH side of the compartment..

RH side of the compartment.  Not ideal but at least stuff is finding temporary homes...

Wednesday, May 27, 2020 -- Manhattan Beach Pier

Quite a few people on the beach at lunchtime, for a Wednesday...

Cloudy day but can see the Palos Verdes peninsula pretty clearly (about 10 miles away)...

Garage Organizing - part 42 -- Large Fold Open Kennedy tool box that sits above another Kennedy tool box next to the band saw...

This larger box is a little "weathered" but in good working condition.  It would look better with a little exterior cleaning and some steel wool on the hardware...  Maybe some time in the future...

This is what's currently stored in the box.  No real rhyme or reason...  Will make this box for a specific purpose at some point...

Fujimi 1/24 sccle Toyota MR2 Plastic Model Kit

I bought and started building this kit over 25 years ago.  It's been sitting in the garage.  Brought it back into the house...

I had a 1987 MR2 (Red) and put almost 100,000 miles on it before it got sold on.  It was a great car...  I had spray painted the model's body red (it came molded in white).  The glue in the box is new (bought it recently thinking of continuing  the build...).

Looks like I painted a few other pieces Red, Blue & Yellow on the "trees"...

The "glass' & stickers...

Fujimi did some pretty detailed packaging, including printing on the inside of the box.  Very Japanese...

Garage Organizing - part 41 -- putting stuff in the Kennedy tool box next to the band saw...

The tool box that I put next to the band saw is empty.  First, I had to vacuum out the interior of all the drawers/compartments.  This is the very bottom drawer, after vacuuming (forgot to take a "before" picture).

This is the second to the bottom drawer, before vacuuming...
After...

A couple of the smaller drawers, before vacuuming.

Top compartment before...

After...

I moved only Plomb tools into this tool box.  On the right is one of the shallow smaller drawers...

Another shallow drawer on the RH side...

Second to the bottom drawer...

Deeper bottom most drawer...

For now, storing miscellaneous stuff in the top compartment.  Since another tool box sits on top of this one, the top compartment will not be easily accessible so storing this kind of stuff is better than storing tools in it...

Pretty much full...

Tuesday, May 26, 2020 -- Manhattan Beach Pier

Less busy on the beach than over the weekend but still quite a few people on the sand.  Most lifeguard stations appear to be manned...  (you can tell from a distance by noting if the flag is flying or not).

The main station at the pier was not flying a flag...

Looking north.  Being a Tuesday, the bike path is not too crowded at lunch time & parking lot is closed.

Parking lots closure blockade on Manhattan Beach Blvd. as it ends at the pier...

Looking south towards PV along the bike path...  If you keep going on the bike path, it ends at the foot of PV.

Pier still closed...

People on the sand but somewhat spread out...

Garage Organizing - part 40 -- putting stuff in the Kennedy tackle box near the garage entrance...

Started putting small miscellaneous items in the Kennedy tackle box that lives near the entrance to the garage (under the table saw).
The LH side of the top drawer has a removable tray with more small compartments under it.  These little compartments are ideal for storing miscellaneous small hardware items.

The bottom drawer of the tackle box is deeper and has just these three compartments.

For now, I put these containers of hardware in the drawer but it's not idea.  I'll move them somewhere else later & better use this space for more appropriate items...

Memorial Day Holiday -- Monday, May 25, 2020 -- Manhattan Beach Pier

Head light & phone mount...

As the clock says, I got to the pier about 7:15 AM.  Since it's a holiday, left the house early to avoid the crowds...

The woman in the red coat is from CBS news and was interviewing people.  She asked me & I said no thanks...

Early enough that there's more sea gulls than people.  Quite a few surfers in the water though...

Parking lots at the beach are closed.

Later, this area will be overflowing with people...
