1949 American Magazine Car Ads (most in color) -- Scrapbook

Someone in 1948 (67 years ago...) cut and pasted all these large car ads from magazines into a large scrapbook.  It must have taken quite a bit of time and effort.  These ads are large format (each sheet is larger than a letter size) and some are foldouts about 11X17 in size.  I wonder who it was...  It was just 3 years after the end of WWII and the optimism and the view to the bright future is nearly palpable in these ads...  For some, it was the beginning of an exciting period for the auto industry that lasted till the end of the 60's... (20 or so good years...)

Alfa Romeo Giulia Cylinder Head... Looking for the valve cover...

Bought this at the French & Italian car show at Woodley Park a couple of months ago.  This is after cleaning it up.  Now I need to buy a valve cover.  The valve cover is very beautiful & some people polish it (I don't like it polished...).  As with most of the junk I buy, don't know what I'll do with it.  Probably hang it on the wall in the garage once I find a valve cover...

Porsche - A History of Excellence by Randy Leffingwell

There are so many books on Porsche out there.  This one is pretty general but there seems to be some good content that I have not seen before.  Haven't read this yet...

Mine's a lighter blue than this one, but basically the same (has the vinyl on the B-Pillar and the aluminum trim...).  Someday I'll drive it again...

917 production line.  Can't recall but Porsche had to produce something like 25 cars to be homologated for racing at LeMans...

this is my favorite Porsche (550 Spyder with the 4 cam motor...).  There's more replicas of this car in existence than originals.  Wouldn't mind having a replica...

Manhattan Beach Pier -- November 28, 2015 (Saturday) -- went pretty fast today...

It's been pretty clear at the beach lately.  Can see Catalina (looks almost like an extension of Palos Verdes...).

Jim Clark Biography - by the Arco Press

This is a nice size book (written & published not too long after Clark died in 1968...).  Looking forward to reading it.

There's a small section of photographs in the middle of the book.

Long Beach Swap Meet -- November 29, 2015 (Sunday) -- was very lightly attended (just the helmet was bought there...)

This Simpson racing helmet came in a box labeled "Craig T. Nelson."  Supposedly, he used this during the 1994 Long Beach Grand Prix Toyota Celebrity Race.  It's condition is pretty much like new.  Reminds me of the helmets that the CHiPs wear/wore.

These type setter's letter drawers (3 of them) will be put inside of the flat file drawers to hold smaller objects.  That was the thought when I bought them...  Could be used for other creative ideas...

New Old Stock (NOS) skateboard accessory from the late 70's/early 80's.  Tried to put it on the Dog Town skateboard but it's too wide...

Bought these white pedals at the Long Beach swap meet.  These are reproductions of the type that came with the bike.  (1/2 inch threads...).  One of the pedals that came on the bike is damaged and the other one is mostly missing!  So these reproductions will do...
The leather seat is a new Brooks saddle (made in England to this day...)  The seat post between the pedals is what came with the bike.  It has a narrow shaft where the post meets the seat.  I need the right seat to seat-post mating adapter...  Don't know if it exists...

A Poor picture of the Road King in the garage (sandwiched between other bikes...).  I put the Brooks leather handle bar bag on it. This is a beautiful new bag.  (I've had this bag for several years...  waiting to be used on the right bike...).

Took a picture of a very similar bike  (appears to be the same chrome frame and springer front fork...) at the Long Beach Swap Meet just this weekend!  Other than the frame & front fork, the details on everything else will be different from mine...
